Free-response questions (FRQs) don’t have to feel intimidating for students! In this interactive session, teachers will explore strategies that make evidence-based science writing engaging, fun, and accessible. Aligned with FRQs in Full Color, participants will examine AP task verbs—like describe, explain, justify, calculate, and make a claim—and see how they guide student responses. In a hands-on FRQ poster activity, teachers will respond to prompts, be guided through correcting them, and learn how to incorporate student grading of released examples to foster understanding and engagement. Presented from the perspective of an AP Environmental Science teacher, these strategies are adaptable for other AP courses or any class preparing students for AP-level writing. 🎨
