When you hear ADHD, you think of a child with too much energy. That is a myth. Yes, they occasionally have more energy than other kids, but that is only a very small piece of the pie. Through the help of slides, videos, timed activities, and numerous small group discussions, we will review the real ADHD Brain and how it effects kids, adults, and their classmates. We will identify methods that can help everyone involved, especially those kids getting lost in the shuffle. A broader understanding will not only help us as teachers become more understanding, but help us reach the ones who are often hardest to reach. Your classroom will run smoother, your lessons more productive, and your class engagment will skyrocket. Instead of raising your hands to pull your hair out, you will raise your hands to pull those students up. You will raise your hands in celebration after you spent more time teaching and less time battling the behaviors that disrupt, or constantly re-directing. And this is only the beginning.
