About me
Elisa is an English teacher, which is to say, a lover of reading and learning on many varied subjects. She has co-advised Eagle Robotics Team 399, coordinated the AVUHSD STEM Expo, and is currently studying to add a Social Studies credential to her repertoire. Interdisciplinary work motivates and interests her. After completing a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, Elisa earned a second MA in Communication Studies, focusing on rhetorical and narrative analysis. Elisa is especially proud of the work she has done in the AVUHSD to help develop the English 12 Ethnic Cultures curriculum. She has published two articles about this curriculum in California English, and presented at the CATE Convention in 2023 on the same topic. Understanding the power of narrative, she is passionate about the need for diversity and representation in all subject areas. She aims for all students to feel seen, validated, and empowered in their education, and ultimately, in their lives.
